Hetzner price increase 2026: old vs new prices

For years, “just get a Hetzner box” was the reflex answer to any hosting-cost question. 2026 broke that reflex in three steps: a portfolio-wide price rise on 1 April, a much bigger cloud repricing on 15 June, and — since late June — the cheapest cloud lines showing as out of stock. Here are Hetzner’s own old and new numbers, what they mean for servers you already run, and who is cheaper now.

What changed, and when

• 1 April 2026: a price increase across Hetzner’s whole portfolio (cloud, dedicated, storage and add-ons), announced in late February and reported at roughly 30–35% for cloud servers.
• 15 June 2026, 08:00 CEST: a second cloud repricing for new orders and rescales. The shared CX and Arm CAX lines rose about a third; the shared AMD CPX and dedicated CCX lines more than doubled.
• Existing servers: keep their previous price — including orders placed before 15 June and delivered after it. Rescaling a server, up or down, moves it to the new list, and Hetzner warns that certain other changes to legacy-priced servers can too.
• Stock: when we checked hetzner.com on 9 October 2026, every Cost-Optimized plan (CX and CAX) was marked “currently unavailable”. More below.

CX and CAX: up about a third

Official monthly prices in Germany and Finland, excluding VAT and IPv4 (Hetzner’s price-adjustment page, read 2026-10-09). The last column is what our calculators use: the new price plus the €0.50 IPv4 address, in USD, as of 2026-10-12.

Like for like, the cheap lines rose 30–38%. Specs did not change: same vCPU, RAM, disk and the same 20TB of included EU traffic, which still embarrasses every hyperscaler’s egress pricing. IPv4 is still extra at €0.50 a month, so an IPv6-only server saves a little — if your users and APIs can reach it.

CPX and CCX: more than doubled

The lines most people never priced because CX was cheaper took the real hit:

This matters because of stock. If CX and CAX are unavailable, the next shared plan Hetzner sells with 2 vCPU and 4GB is the CPX22 at €19.49 plus IPv4 — about 3.6× the CX23. At that price Hetzner is not the cheap option any more; the live table below shows who undercuts it.

The stock problem — and why CAX is no longer the escape hatch

An earlier version of this article pointed people at the Arm CAX line as the way round CX stock gaps. That advice has aged: CAX rose by the same third, and it sits in the same Cost-Optimized group that the web shop listed as unavailable for every size when we checked. Availability can differ by location inside the Cloud Console, so look there before you plan around a CX or CAX server — but do not build a budget on one you have not yet been able to create.

Who’s cheap now — live, 4GB and up

Cheapest plan with at least 4GB of RAM per VPS provider, from list prices as of 2026-10-12 (refreshed weekly). Hetzner’s row is its list price, not a promise you can order it:

Read the notes column before you pick. OVHcloud's $4.54 needs a 12-month upfront commitment. Hostinger’s price is a promo that renews higher. netcup’s is a 12-month term and it raised prices in September too. And Hetzner’s 20TB of included traffic still beats every metered plan at scale: at DigitalOcean’s ~$0.01/GB overage, 16TB past a 4TB allowance is about $160 a month. If you push serious bandwidth and can get a CX or CAX server, Hetzner post-increase is still the cheapest place to do it.

What to do about it

• Already on a CX, CAX or CPX server: keep it, and think twice before rescaling — a resize moves it to the new price list. If you need more capacity, adding a second legacy-priced server is not possible either, so price the new list against alternatives first.
• Need a new EU server now: check CX/CAX availability in the Cloud Console; if none, compare the live table above before defaulting to CPX — see Hetzner vs OVHcloud and Hetzner vs DigitalOcean.
• Bandwidth-light workloads: the field is competitive again — compare Hetzner alternatives or run your stack through the hosting cost calculator.
• Bandwidth-heavy workloads: stay if you can get the servers. 20TB of included traffic at these prices has no real rival.
• Thinking of netcup instead: it raised prices too — its September G12.5 lineup is now dearer than Hetzner’s list price at the same RAM. See netcup G12.5 vs Hetzner and the head-to-head table.

The 1 April figure comes from coverage of Hetzner’s February announcement, not an official table. The live ranking uses official list prices from our data set (2026-10-12), refreshed weekly. Correction, 9 October 2026: earlier versions of this article said the new CX prices bundle IPv4 and quoted older “old” USD figures; Hetzner’s tables exclude IPv4, and the comparison above is now like for like.
